Father’s Day Books

Father’s Day is just around the corner; I can’t believe how fast June is going!!! I feel like was just April… which means that I am behind with getting Father’s Day stuff ready. Yikes!

I pulled a few books for my husband and son to read together to get excited about Father’s Day. They enjoyed these stories! We hope you like them too.

Three Books about Dads

Nelly Gnu and Daddy Too by Anna Dewdney.

Anna Dewdney is famous for her Llama Llama series (it’s now a cartoon on Netflix), but she has written other great books that often get overlooked. One of her lesser known books is Nelly Gnu and Daddy Too. This book is super cute and a great choice for fathers and kids to read together. Nelly accompanies Dad do a father-daughter project together. The story rhymes well and has lovely illustrations that preschoolers will appreciate. Check this out from your local library, or buy it on Amazon here. My son and my husband read this one together last night and both of them enjoyed it! Usually I’m the one reading bedtime stories, but last night was a special dad-son storytime. My son had a great time spending a little extra time with his dad before bed 🙂

Froggy’s Day with Dad by Jonathan London.

I love the Froggy series. Each story lends itself so well to interactive movements and accompanying noises from the readers that you can’t help but love Froggy. In this book, Froggy is excited to spend Father’s Day miniature golfing with his dad. As with all of the Froggy books, preschoolers can relate to Froggy, who gets a little over-excited, in this story. Check this out from your local library, or buy it on Amazon here.

Just Me and My Dad by Mercer Mayer.

My son loves the Little Critter books, so he is excited to read one with his dad. This is such a sweet story about father and child bonding time during a camping trip! Toddlers and preschoolers can relate to Little Critter’s attempts to do it by himself and be a big-kid. Little Critter tries so hard, and we know his heart in the right place, but his attempts often fall short. But that’s okay — it’s all part of the learning process 🙂 Daddy is right there to offer help as needed. Check this out from your local library, or buy it on Amazon here.
