Tissue Paper Rainbow Craft

Tissue Paper Rainbow Craft

This tissue paper rainbow is a fun and versatile craft — you can make it because (1) rainbows are awesome, (2) learning colors, (3) tie in with rain and rainbow theme, (4) learning letter r is for rainbow, and (5) St. Patrick’s Day activity! Bonus, wadding up the tissue is good for working on fine motor skills with preschoolers too. My 3 year old and I really enjoyed making this craft together. After it dried, we hung it up on the wall in my kiddo’s bedroom as an awesome decoration.

Supplies needed:

  • 1 piece of construction paper
  • tissue paper in the colors of the rainbow
  • white cotton balls
  • white school glue

How To:

If your tissue paper is not already in small squares, cut your tissue into 1″ x 1″ squares.

Squish your tissue paper into small balls. (For a simpler version of this craft, leave the tissue in squares and glue the squares along the glue arches.) This was a lot of squishing and I helped my 3 year old make a lot of them.

On your construction paper, make 6 arches with your glue. Make sure to leave a gap in between each arch.

Glue the tissue paper balls along the arches, making your rainbow. This was a great opportunity for us to talk about what colors are in a rainbow and what order the colors appear.

After gluing all of the tissue balls onto your rainbow, take a couple cotton balls and stretch them out to make clouds. Glue your cotton ball clouds to the bottom of your rainbow. Let your rainbow craft dry before showing it off.
