Paper Plate Snail Craft

My son and I made a paper plate snail craft as part of letter “S” week. Due to Covid, we are doing preschool at home, focusing on 1 letter per week. This snail craft is pretty easy, but a lot of fun because my son enjoyed using his paints. Best part was, I could pull the supplies together in a couple minutes so we could dive right into craft time!

Supplies Needed:

  • paper plate
  • construction paper
  • watercolor paints
  • paintbrush
  • water cup
  • scissors
  • glue stick
  • a marker
  • a sharpie

How To:

To begin, draw a spiral shape on the paper plate (this will be the snail’s shell). I used a sharpie and it held up to the watercolor painting without bleeding too much.

My kiddo loves to paint and was happy to get to use his watercolors. He mixed and matched his paint colors and did a good job following the spiral design.

Using regular Crayola markers, I drew the snail’s head on construction paper and cut it out for my son. For the face, I drew 2 antennae, an eye (it’s a profile), and a smile because everyone wants a happy snail, right!

Once the plate is dry, your child can glue the snail’s head onto shell. Now you have your own cute little paper plate snail craft!
