It’s time for learning letter J! Below is my free preschool alphabet lesson plans for learning letter J. Help your child letter J all week long with worksheets, books, crafts, songs, and STEM activities. Since my name starts with a “J,” I am pretty partial to this letter 🙂 I was determined to make this week lots of fun so we read one of my favorite stories (Sheep in a Jeep by Nancy Shaw), created really cool crafts together, and made fresh squeezed orange juice!

Get read to giggle your way through this book 🙂

For our jeep lyrics we sang:
Wheels on the jeep bump on the ground, on the ground, on the ground. The wheels on the jeep bump on the ground all through the hills.
Wipers on the jeep go swish-swish-swish, swish-swish-swish, swish-swish-swish. Wipers on the jeep go swish-swish-swish all through the hills.
The horn on the jeep goes beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep. The horn on the jeep goes beep-beep-beep all through the hills.
Sheep in the jeep go up and down, up and down, up and down. Sheep in the jeep go up and down all through the hills.

- Books: Check out Over in the Jungle: a rainforest rhyme by Marianne Berkes. This book is fun counting rhyme story with lots of awesome pictures! The pictures that were formed from clay by artist Jeanette Canyon that perfectly compliment Marianne Berkes’ sing-songy text. You and your little one will want to study these pictures over-and-over again to get all of the details incorporated onto each page. This book introduces a variety of amazing jungle animals. It also lends itself well to movement activities that preschoolers will love to do. At the end, there is a seek-and-find activity to search for all of the animals from the book, as well as a sneak-peek into the clay creations.
- Craft: Collage Jungle— we cut out pictures of plants and trees from magazines and catalogs to create a collage. Once we had cut out all of the pictures we liked, we glued them onto a piece of green construction paper and made our own jungle picture!

- Book: We read Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed by Eileen Christelow.
These little monkeys always seem to find trouble in this book featuring eight monkey stories! In Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, the monkeys fall off the bed one-by-one. As each little monkey gets hurt, Mama calls the doctor and the doctor says, “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!” I paired the stories with these small 5 Little Monkeys toys so that the toys could do the jumping and get all of the ouchies instead of my child! My son enjoyed acting out the stories in the book with his toys.
- Craft: Free coloring pages from Super Simple (one of my favorite websites for preschool) — https://supersimple.com/downloads/five-little-monkeys-coloring-pages.pdf
- Song: sing the Five Little Monkeys song with Super Simple Songs!
